ParentVOICE's PhotoVoice Project Exhibited The MHA and UNCC Department of Psychology were proud to present a Community Art Showcase at Occasio on Saturday night, August 6th as they exhibit the ParentVOICE program's PhotoVoice project. PhotoVoice provides a way for youth in each community to explore and communicate their perceptions and experiences, as well as an avenue for the community to recognize and respond to these youth. In June, local teens participated in a project to capture their daily experiences through photographs. Occasio showcased their work through a multimedia presentation, and teens had a chance to talk about their pictures and experiences.

Public Forums Throughout the year, we host public educational forums. One such forum is held to share information gathered in biennial surveys of local service providers contracted by Mecklenburg's AMH (Area Mental Health Authority) and Cabarrus' PBH (Piedmont Behavioral Healthcare). This forum offers an opportunity for everyone in our community to hear the final report and to ask additional questions of the local management entities - AMH and PBH.
Another type of public forum is our more customary "educational" forum on a particular topic related to mental health. The main presentation is followed by a question and answer sessions. All forums are free and open to the public.
