National and Local Efforts to Dialogue about Mental Health

Mental Health America participated in a national conference hosted by the White House on June 3, 2012, nearly five months after the president issued an executive action to "launch a national dialogue" on mental health. "There should be no shame in discussing or seeking help for treatable illnesses that affect too many people that we love," the president said. "We've got to get rid of that embarrassment. We've got to get rid of that stigma. Too many Americans who struggle with mental health illnesses are suffering in silence rather than seeking help."

The MHA launched a local campaign entitled, "Mental Health Matters:  It's Time to Talk," including a series of video stories to Break Stigma One Conversation at a Time.  Take your pledge to break stigma on our Pledge Wall.
